Blue Beam! v0.2.8 update and fate

I've hit a wall on this project. It's been a few weeks since this was started and it's not ticking the hyper casual game boxes. At this point it will take a lot of revisions to course correct and due to personal reasons I don't have the heart or creative inspiration to continue. In its current state the game can be seen as a casual survival game that pays (vague) homage to the earliest arcade games. Blue Beam! development is on hold for now.

I would appreciate if you left a comment if you enjoyed this game and wish to see more features like skins (I was planning to add unlockable 8-, 16-, 32-bit and flash era skins) and more targets (my magnet mine mascot and alchemy stone were supposed to be in there). But at the moment I'll be re-focusing my time on fresh projects as I take advantage of some negative energy to fill my sails.

The good news is that two new secret games are underway and the newest of these is almost in beta thanks to surprisingly rapid progress and my better understanding of hyper casual concepts.

Thanks for playing Blue Beam!

updates in version 0.2.8:

  • Lots of streamlining under the hood.
  • Speeds have been fine tuned.
  • Rotation guide icons are more functional.
  • Beam shields now spawn at 1000 point intervals. Don't squander them!
  • scores now persist between sessions (stored as a web cookie). Currently debugging this.
